    Randall Embracing Different Role

As he heads into his third year in the Clemson program, Adam Randall is now one of the elder statemen in the wide receiver room.

While injuries have led to some inconsistency in his performances on the field, Randall is now fully healthy with an opportunity to make a much bigger impact in 2024.

Randall has already been stepping up off the field. Receivers coach Tyler Grisham praised his leadership abilities earlier this week at Clemson’s annual media day, going as far as to compare him to former standout wide receiver for the Tigers.

“I think I think he has (stepped up),” Grisham said on Tuesday. “I would argue that he’s taken on that role better that I’ve ever seen from a single receiver. Amari Rodgers was very similar.”

Seeing as Clemson’s receiver room is littered with underclassmen, including two true freshmen, it’s imperative that some of the few underclassmen in the group step up and lead the way.

“Adam ended up buying Wide Receiver U t-shirts for our guys already. For the whole group,” Grisham said. “And that’s really cool. In the world of NIL, you’re guys can do that now, which is cool.”

It’s the little things that Randall is doing off the field that have really stood out. Grisham specifically mentioned Randall taking freshman receiver Bryant Wesco under his wings back in the spring

“He’s done little things to really make that known that he is that leader,” Grisham said. “And that takes confidence to do that. But also, I think he knew the guys were willing to follow him. So he’s kind of stepped out a little bit here and there and the guys have responded well to that.”

The Myrtle Beach product has 32 catches for 378 yards over his first two years, with what was arguably his best performance to date coming in the Tigers’ comeback win over Kentucky in the Gator Bowl when Randall caught five passes for 46 yards.

Now the hope is that he can stay healthy, and translate some of the success he is having off the field onto the field of play.

“I think what’s exciting for me is that when you bring in freshmen, you want to make sure that you have those upperclassmen that can show them the way,” Grisham said. “Let somebody else’s tail-lights be your headlights kind of thing. Just follow  the right people. Don’t follow the wrong people, follow the right people. And man we have some alphas in this room and I think they do share a little bit of about leadership.”
