At the 2024 ACC Football Kickoff in Charlotte on Thursday, Clemson quarterback Cade Klubnik didn’t hesitate when asked who he thinks will be the biggest difference-maker on the Tigers’ offense this season.

“Bryant Wesco. That’s my guy,” Klubnik said of the highly touted true freshman wide receiver from Texas.

Any particular reason why Klubnik provided that answer?

    “You’ll see,” Klubnik said, smiling.

Wesco, who enrolled early at Clemson in January, was ranked by ESPN as the No. 7 wideout and No. 28 overall prospect in the country for the 2024 recruiting class.

Wesco recorded 109 receptions for 1,903 yards and scored 29 touchdowns during his prep career at Midlothian (Texas) High. He posted 36 catches for 619 yards and 13 touchdowns in just seven games as a senior after hauling in 56 passes for 1,072 yards and 12 scores as a junior.

The 6-foot-2, 170-pounder flashed his potential throughout the spring and looked like the real deal during Clemson’s spring game in April, when he caught three of his five targets for 26 yards and a touchdown — a highlight-reel, over-the-shoulder grab for a 9-yard score in the first quarter.

During Clemson’s media day earlier this month, Clemson offensive coordinator Garrett Riley spoke highly of Wesco, as well as fellow big-time, true freshman receiver talent T.J. Moore, who enrolled this summer.

“Certainly Wesco and TJ, we’re excited about,” Riley said . “Saw some great flashes from Wesco in the spring and some of the things we’ve heard this summer on him have been great, as well as TJ’s just starting to get going. But his skill set is certainly going to be a competitive addition to that room for sure.”
