Logan Anderson sees himself fitting in at Clemson in more ways than one.

Not only is the Tigers’ most recent commit an extremely quick and athletic linebacker, he’s also an avid outdoorsman. It’s a hobby he shares with defensive coordinator Wes Goodwin, current freshman linebacker Sammy Brown, as well as several others on the team.

Anderson just picked up his offer from Clemson in early June after an extremely impressive showing at Dabo Swinney’s high school camp. Shortly after that visit, the 4-star linebacker knew the Tigers were the fit he was looking for.

However, instead of committing over the phone, Anderson chose to wait until the next time he was on campus, which was last weekend for the All-In Cookout.

“I wanted to do it in person, I didn’t want to do it over phone,” Anderson told The Clemson Insider. “Because I wanted them to know I mean business and I mean what I’m saying.”

Turns out, it was worth the wait. After informing the staff of his decision, several in attendance were so overjoyed, they were brought to tears, including Goodwin.

“It was great,” Anderson said. “The whole family was crying. Coach Goodwin even teared up.”

One of the biggest things that attracted Anderson was the family-like culture Swinney and the rest of his staff have cultivated at Clemson.

“They’re about God and family and that’s what I’m looking for,” Anderson said. “They’ve got the best leadership. It’s the best program that I’ve seen and I’ve been to.”

Anderson plays both ways at Fyffe High School (AL) and that versatility is something that originally peaked Goodwin’s interest. During his high school career he has excelled at running back, while also playing linebacker and safety.

Originally, he envisioned himself playing on the offensive side of the ball at the collegiate level. It wasn’t until January of this year that the subject of playing defense was broached with him.

That led to Anderson hitting the camp circuit this summer and showing off his skills at linebacker. Due to those workouts, numerous offers started to roll in, including Georgia, Auburn and Arkansas, to go along with the one from Clemson.

After familiarizing himself with Goodwin’s defense at Clemson, Anderson sees himself fitting in really well.

“I think I will fit in perfect,” Anderson said. “That’s where I need to be. I have the best chance of playing there. I guess me being quick and having good agility helps out a lot. That is what impresses coaches the most about me. My athletic ability.”

Anderson will likely be the only take at linebacker in the class, and fresh off his commitment to the Tigers, he has a message for the Clemson fan base.

“Bet on me,” Anderson said. “Once I get my head on and I have figured out what’s going on at Clemson, they’re going to have a good player. They can believe in me.”
