CLEMSON — The Clemson Tigers hit the practice fields Thursday for the first day of camp at the Allen Reeves Football Complex.

The storms came while the team stretched but cleared in time for them to practice outside.

Here are some observations of the offense from Day 1:

    • Dabo Swinney loves to work with the receivers and today he had his first chance to work with five-star T.J. Moore. We saw several times where Swinney was working individually with Moore during and after drills.
    • Fumbles were a huge problem last season for the Tigers. Today they had a new drill where they had the football connected to a chord and had a player pulling on the chord while the offensive player carried the ball.
    • Adam Randall looked like a beast. He has added some weight, all muscle, and weighed in at 231 pounds on Wednesday. Randall came on strong late last season and should be hard to handle for defensive backs this season.
    • The first play of the first offensive drill was a perfect over-the-shoulder pass in the end zone from Cade Klubnik to Randall.
    • Due to a rule change, other staff members can now work with the players during practices and games. Tajh Boyd was helping Garrett Riley with the receivers. Cole Stoudt was helping Tyler Grisham with the receivers. Will Swinney, who just joined the staff, was working with the tight ends.
    • Paul Tyson, who is the fourth-string quarterback, spent most of the drills we saw working as a coach with the quarterbacks, not as a player.
    • Each year it is always great to see the players’ new handshakes they do before they begin stretching. Klubnik had some pretty cool ones with the new receivers.
    • RB Keith Adams was in a green jersey but was doing most of the drills we were able to watch.
    • A drone flew over the drills about 10 feet above the players’ heads.
    • WR Troy Stellato had a brace he put on below his pads before he started workouts. He is coming off a shoulder injury.
    • Freshman tight end Christian Bentancur, who weighed in this week at 243, looked physically ready to make an impact. Swinney had plenty of praise for Bentancur in his press conference before practice.
    • Christopher Vizzina was working as the No. 2 quarterback.
    • Klubnik was bouncing around and seemed very comfortable on the first day of camp. He was trying to help some of the younger receivers in one of the drills.
    • The Tigers have not had a better looking pair of freshmen receivers in a long time. Bryant Wesco looked more familiar with the practice after going through the spring, but Moore looks ready to make an immediate impact.
