It didn’t take long for this former Clemson defender to land with another NFL team.

After being released by the Philadelphia Eagles on Tuesday, former Tiger cornerback Mario Goodrich has been claimed off waivers by the New York Giants on Wednesday.

Goodrich appeared in four games for the Eagles last season, making one start and posting five total tackles (three solo).

The 6-foot, 186-pounder was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Eagles in 2022. During the 2022 season, he was elevated from the practice squad for Philadelphia’s Week 10 game against Washington but didn’t see any playing time for the Eagles in 2022.

Goodrich finished his four-year Clemson career from 2018-21 credited with 84 tackles (0.5 for loss), 15 pass breakups, five interceptions, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery over 47 games (16 starts). He earned third-team All-America honors from PFF and first-team All-ACC status for his performance as a senior in 2021, when he concluded his career as MVP of a win in the 2021 Cheez-It Bowl.

The Giants have a couple of other former Clemson stars on their roster in defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence and safety/inside linebacker Isaiah Simmons.

A limited number of signed footballs from Clemson’s 2022 class are still available.  Get yours while supplies last!  Visit Clemson Variety & Frame or purchase online!
