CLEMSON — Clemson opened fall camp Thursday afternoon at the Allen Reeves Football Complex, and head coach Dabo Swinney was asked about his freshman middle linebacker.

Sammy Brown, a former five star who enrolled in January, looked good in the spring as he primarily worked the MIKE (middle) linebacker position. Swinney was asked what the expectations are for Brown coming into camp and will he do some cross training at the weakside (WILL) position.

“I think he will learn both as we go,” Swinney said. “In the middle is where he will start and then we will see where he is after the first week. We have not been on the field with him since the spring, so we will see where he is.

“He is a player that will have to master the MIKE and WILL as he goes through the process. He has already started.”

Clemson opens the 2024 season on Aug. 31 against Georgia in Atlanta as part of the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Classic.
