Haley Johnson Clermont Sun Athlete of the Week

Haley Johnson rewrote the record book at Bethel-Tate, finishing her career with program records in home runs (46), home runs in a season (17), RBIs (218), RBIs in a season, (65), hits (206), and doubles (49). Her 218 RBIs are also the most in Ohio softball history. The Wilmington College commit is your Clermont Sun Athlete of the Week!

Q: Favorite professional or collegiate softball player?

A: Jenny Finch.

Q: What does the honor of being named SBAAC National Division Co-Player of the Year mean to you?

A: Being named co-player of the year means a lot to me! It makes it so great because a lot of the girls and teams I played against in high school were ones I would grow up playing against. Clermont County has had so many great players who have won this award. To be mentioned among all of those players means a lot!

Q: How were you able to make this achievement possible?

A: I’ve had a lot of really good coaches who have always pushed me to do my best. I have my family that has always supported me and been there for me. I also have had so many amazing teammates from youth to my travel team and to my high school team. Lastly, I put a lot of extra time and effort into pitching and hitting. I’ve sacrificed many weekends and summers to put in the extra work to get me where I am today.

Q: Who would you like to thank for helping you get to where you are today?

A: I’ve had a lot of really good coaches throughout the years who’ve constantly supported me and always pushed me to be the best player I can be and never let me settle. I also really want to thank my mom and dad who have always supported me and dedicated so much time to me playing this sport. They’re always my biggest supporters and help me through everything!

Q: What has representing Bethel-Tate meant to you? How do you hope to be remembered in the community?

A: It has meant so much to me to be able to represent Bethel-Tate softball because I grew up playing for Bethel starting at the age of four and being a part of turning the program around! I want to be remembered as someone who is a good teammate, a coachable player, and someone who never backed down from a challenge.

Q: Thoughts on the direction of the Bethel-Tate softball program? How have you and your senior class helped lay the groundwork for the future success of the program?

A: Hopefully my senior class and teammates before have set a good example of a winning culture. Also that if they put in hard work, it pays off. I hope they continue in all of the success we have built as a program!
