    Guardians prospect duo named to MLB Futures game roster

    ARLINGTON, Texas (WKBN) – A pair of Cleveland Guardians prospects have been named to the American League roster for the 25th annual MLB Futures game.

    Cleveland outfield prospect Jaison Chourrio and catcher Ralphy Velazquez will represent the Guardians at the event.

    Chourrio is rated as Cleveland’s No. 3 prospect and No. 86 overall in all of baseball, according to MLB.com.

    This season at single-A Lynchburg, Chourrio is batting .270 with 3 home runs, 47 RBIs and 24 stolen bases.

    Velazquez is Cleveland’s fourth-rated prospect and rated No. 88 overall in baseball, according to MLB.com.

    He was Cleveland’s first-round draft pick in 2023, selected at No. 23 overall. This season at single-A Lynchburg, he is batting .263 with 9 homers and 43 RBIs.

    The MLB Futures game is a seven-inning game that features baseball’s top prospects. It will take place on Saturday, July 13 at 4 p.m. at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas.
