CLEVELAND (WJW) — Just like many subscription services these days, Costco announced Wednesday they’re going to raise their membership fees.

Starting Sept. 1, these prices are going up by $5 or $10, depending on which membership you have. Annual memberships are rolling up to $65 and executive memberships are increasing to $130.

About 52 million members across the U.S. and Canada are going to be impacted by these changes, according to Costco.

Costco CEO Craig Jelinek had previously told CNBC t hat it wasn’t the right time to up fees as inflation was impacting so many families. It was not made clear what made the company want to make the changes now, but last year, during an earnings call , Costco CFO Richard Galanti said “It’s a question of when, not if.”

Costco is cracking down on non-members again

The wholesale club, which relies on membership fees to keep warehouse prices low, last moved up fees in 2017. In the past they’ve moved up fees every five years or so.

One price that isn’t changing at Costco? That $1.50 hot dog and drink combo meal.
