    Cleveland area man sentenced in child custody abduction case

    WAUSEON — A Cleveland area man charged locally amidst a custody-related child abduction was sentenced to prison during a recent hearing here in Fulton County Common Pleas Court.

    Lamar Miles, 35, Willowick,was given a term of two years, nine months up to three years on charges of attempted kidnapping, a second-degree felony; endangering children, a third-degree felony; failure to comply with an order of signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony; and OVI, a first-degree misdemeanor.

    He was given credit for 40 days served in jail while his case was pending, and his operator’s license was suspended for three years.

    The attempted kidnapping charge was amended from kidnapping, a first-degree felony.

    A second count of kidnapping, a first-degree felony, was dismissed along with charges of abduction, a third-degree felony; a second count of failure to comply with an order of signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony; and two counts of menacing by stalking, each a fourth-degree felony, as part of the plea agreement between Fulton County Prosecutor T. Luke Jones’ office and Miles’ attorney, Fernando Mack of Cleveland.

    Miles was arrested in Swanton on Oct. 20 after removing his 23-month-old daughter in Cleveland from the mother’s custody, and threatening to harm the child.

    He also failed to stop for a law enforcement officer after having been ordered to do so.
