CLEVELAND (WJW) – Northeast Ohio is getting ready to welcome athletes from across the world for the Pan-American Masters Games starting this weekend.
The multisport international event, designed for people 30 and older at all skill levels, brings 24 different sporting events to the Greater Cleveland Area .
Girl, 11, in critical condition after Canton house fire Drivers can expect various road closures and detours throughout the Games, which start Saturday, July 13 and continue through Sunday, July 21.
Here are the expected closures, according to the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission:
Saturday, July 13 — Welcome Ceremony
- Lakeside Avenue closed between Ontario and E. 6th Street from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.
Sunday, July 14 — Triathlon
- Cleveland Memorial Shoreway closed westbound and eastbound from West Boulevard/Lake Avenue to Dead Man’s Curve from 5 a.m. to noon.
- Access to Edgewater Park after 5 a.m. only available by W. 73rd Street
Monday, July 15 — Cycling Criterium
- No parking along Wade Oval Drive from Sunday through Monday, 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Tuesday, July 16 — Cycling Time Trial
- Valley Parkway closed between Mastick/Puritas and Barrett Road from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Access to South Mastick Picnic Area will be limited to athletes and volunteers at Puritas/Mastick Road. Park north of Purtias and ride the all-purpose trail to access the start/finish line if arriving after 8 a.m.
Wednesday, July 17 — Cycling Road Race
- Cleveland Metroparks Brecksville Reservation will be closed overnight Tuesday through 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
- Meadows Drive closed between Chippewa Creek and Valley Parkway.
- Valley Parkway closed between Meadows Drive and Chippewa Creek.
- Chippewa Creek closed between Meadows Drive and Valley Parkway.
- Athletes and spectators can park at the Station Road Bridge parking lot (9141 Riverview Road) or along Chippewa Creek Road. Athletes will need to ride the all-purpose trail to get to the start/finish line.

- Gorge Parkway closure starts at 8 a.m.
- Parking will be available at Egbert Picnic Area.
Sunday, July 21 — Road Race: Half Marathon, 10K, 5K
- Lakeside Avenue closed between Ontario and E. 6th Street from 3 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Rolling closures throughout Downtown Cleveland from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. for race.
