CLEVELAND, Ohio (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians have re-signed pitcher Zak Kent to a minor league contract.

He was recently released by Cleveland after being designated for assignment on June 29 to make room for pitcher Matthew Boyd on the 40-man roster.

Kent was originally acquired by Cleveland on Opening Day in a minor trade with the Texas Rangers in exchange for international bonus pool money.

He has been out since April 14 with a right elbow strain.

The right-hander has appeared in three games at Triple-A Indianapolis this season, posting a record of 1-0. He has tossed 5 innings, allowing three hits with 8 strikeouts.

In five seasons in the minor leagues with the Texas organization, Kent has a record of 10-12 with a 3.99 ERA.
