Flight delays, other issues in NE Ohio in tech outage

CLEVELAND (AP/WJW) – Cleveland Hopkins International Airport is seeing ongoing issues Friday following a widespread technology outage impacting airports, banks and media outlets.

Cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike said that the issue believed to be behind the outage was not a security incident or cyberattack. The issue affected Microsoft 365 apps and services, and escalating disruptions continued hours after the technology company said it was gradually fixing it.

According to FlightAware , Hopkins has seen 54 delays so far Friday and 24 cancellations.

Cleveland Hopkins Airport wrote on X:

The FAA is closely monitoring a technical issue impacting IT systems at U.S. airlines. Several airlines have requested FAA assistance with ground stops until the issue is resolved.

The airport’s online flight status check is down as well.

Fox 8’s Jessica Dill reported from the airport that United Air passengers seemed to be the most impacted with some standing in line for more than 2 hours. She said passengers without a checked bag were having information hand-written onto their tickets due to computer issues.

Delta :

Delta has resumed some flight departures after a vendor technology issue impacted several airlines and businesses around the world. That issue necessitated a pause in Delta’s global flight schedule this morning while it was addressed.
