Browns’ speedy rookie has been drafted to another football league where he may end up

One member of the Cleveland Browns now has a potential fallback plan to continue playing football if it doesn’t work out in Northeast Ohio or even the NFL in general.

Rookie wide receiver Ahmarean Brown was signed by Cleveland as an undrafted free agent back in April . Now, the speedy wideout has been drafted in the UFL by the Birmingham Stallions. The Stallions used an eighth-round pick on the current member of the Browns.

When you go through the results of the UFL Draft, you will find many current NFL rookies that were either undrafted or drafted in late rounds. Basically, this is the UFL banking on these guys not quite being good enough to last in the NFL and coming over to their league. Oftentimes, those players just on the edge like that end up very good in lesser leagues.

Brown spent his first two seasons at Georgia Tech where he totaled 579 receiving yards and eight touchdowns with the Yellow Jackets. After that, Brown transferred to South Carolina where he just broke the 550-yard mark in three seasons with the Gamecocks.

The 5-foot-9, 165-pound wide receiver was not productive in college and doesn’t quite have the build to last in the NFL without having an elite way to stand out. Brown is fast but you can find the same speed from a player that is not as light.

The practice squad is an option for a guy like Brown who could look to make an impact on special teams if he had the chance. Still, the UFL could be a very likely pathway for Brown to make a living playing the game of football. Cleveland doesn’t have open roster spots at wide receiver , so making the team in Cleveland is really out of reach unless something unforeseen happens.
