Cleveland Browns Give Big Extension To This Star Player

The Cleveland Browns have had a busy offseason so far in 2024. The team made a number of moves from signing backup quarterback Jameis Winston to provide security under DeShaun Watson, to bolstering the defense by adding linebackers Jordan Hicks and Devin Bush Jr. They also traded for wide receiver Jerry Jeudy from the Denver Broncos as well.

Andrew Berry, who is the general manager of the Browns, is back at it again this time securing a new contract for one of his top players. It’s not edge rusher Myles Garrett, cornerback Denzel Ward, or running back Nick Chubb, but actually their star kicker Dustin Hopkins.

Kicker Dustin Hopkins Gets Deserved Extension

After years of subpar performances by kickers, the Cleveland Browns have finally found their franchise kicker. The team has given Dustin Hopkins a three-year contract worth 15.9 million dollars or roughly just over five million per season.

The 33-year-old has bounced around from teams after being drafted by the Buffalo Bills in 2013. After stints with New Orleans, Washington, and LA Chargers, Hopkins has shined since signing with Cleveland in 2023.

The kicker made 91.7% of his field goal attempts and 92.3% of his extra point attempts including a career-long 58-yard field goal last season. He did not play in the postseason due to injury.

This will be a big season for the Cleveland Browns, who are coming off an 11-6 season. The chaotic year featured a carousel of quarterbacks ranging from highly paid DeShaun Watson to former Baltimore Raven and Super Bowl champion Joe Flacco. They will battle in the competitive AFC North this season, which featured all four teams with a record above .500.

With the return of superstar quarterback Joe Burrow in Cincinnati and the new look Steelers offense, it will be a challenging year for the Browns. Overall, the team has enough talent to return to the postseason for the second straight year if they can stay healthy. How well do you think the Cleveland Browns will do in 2024?
