No. 1 pick Travis Bazzana participated in batting practice with the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday, which drew a crowd and served as a full-circle moment for the Australian-born prospect .

While Bazzana took hacks in the cage ahead of the Guardians matchup against the San Diego Padres, several of the team's standouts, including All-Stars Jose Ramirez and Josh Naylor, took in the action.

Only a few years ago, Bazzana admired players such as Ramirez from afar, like most fans. But, the two were side-by-side on Saturday, taking turns at the plate.

Shortly after hearing his name called first by the Guardians in the 2024 MLB Draft, Bazzana spoke about the eye-opening realization that the two are now a part of the same organization.

"You watch Jose Ramirez highlights over and over since 2017," Bazzan told Mandy Bell of MLB.com . "Then you get out there and you get to say 'What's up' to him. I think that's when it sinks in a little bit."

Bazzana is obviously familiar with Ramirez and others, but he also knows a lot about his new team off the diamond, too.

"I know how smart and in-depth and well-resourced the organization is from the top," the former Oregon State slugger told Bally Sports Cleveland . "I know the identity and culture of the big league team - I haven't been in the clubhouse - but I know it's a quality environment."

It will likely take a few years for Bazzana to develop into a major league-ready player, with 2028 being the target. But, the journey to get there will begin immediately for the No. 1 pick, who could start playing with High-A affiliate, the Lake County Captains, as soon as next week , per Guardians' reporter Paul Hoynes.
