CLEVELAND, Ohio (92.3 The Fan) – There will be no training camp holdout for Browns receiver Amari Cooper.

Cooper reported for training camp Tuesday along with other veteran players after agreeing to a restructured contract for the 2024 season.

Jordan Schultz first reported the Cooper contract restructure agreement.

Cooper sat out the mandatory minicamp in June and head coach Kevin Stefanski said at the time that Cooper’s absence was not excused.

After watching the receiver market explode the last two offseasons, Cooper was hoping for a raise and extension, but executive vice president of football operations Andrew Berry had been hesitant to add years to Cooper’s original five-year, $100 million extension signed in 2020 with the Cowboys.

The Browns gave Cooper an opportunity to earn a $5 million raise through incentives while guaranteeing the $20 million that was already on the final year of his deal.

Cooper, who is coming off his fifth Pro Bowl season and a career-high 1,250 yards of 72 catches and five touchdowns in 2023 to become the only receiver in franchise history to tally back-to-back 1,000-yard seasons, is still eligible to become an unrestricted free agent next March.

Cleveland acquired Cooper from the Cowboys in March 2022 for a 2022 fifth-round pick and sixth-round pick swap.

The Cooper trade was just one on many moves Berry has made in recent years to bolster the receiving corps.

The Browns also landed Elijah Moore from the Jets in 2023 and in March acquired Jerry Jeudy, who was then signed to a three-year, $58 million extension, from the Broncos.

Berry also has drafted Donovan Peoples-Jones, Anthony Schwartz, David Bell, Michael Woods, Cedric Tillman and Jamari Thrash with mid to late round picks since 2020.

Peoples-Jones was dealt at the trade deadline to the Lions last season and Schwartz was cut in 2023.

There were no absences Tuesday and no NFI (Non-Football Injury) or PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) designations made immediately following the conditioning test. Those are expected to be reported to the league office on Wednesday.

The Browns will hold a light workout Wednesday in Berea before returning to The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia Thursday afternoon where they will hold seven practices in nine days.
