CLEVELAND — Yep, it was another matchup between the Guardians and the Detroit Tigers, and there are plenty more on the way.
The Guardians and Tigers met Wednesday night for their third game in what will be six battles in a nine-day span, with Cleveland pulling out a 2-1 win. It was Cleveland's second straight one-run win after the Guardians snapped their three-game skid with a 5-4 win Tuesday.
Veteran catcher Austin Hedges spoke at length after Monday night's loss about how the Guardians need to stick to being disciplined during a bit of a rough stretch, and how they're adjusting to being a target as a top dog in the American League.
Here's how Wednesday night's game unfolded through our live updates.
Closer Emmanuel Clase gets three outs in the ninth inning and the Guardians win 2-1 over the Tigers.
Javier Baez grounded out to start the inning as first baseman Josh Naylor fielded the ball and flipped it to Clase. Wenceel Perez struck out looking, Colt Keith walked and Matt Vierling hit a ground ball that shortstop Brayan Rocchio fielded and flipped to Andres Gimenez at second base to end the game.
The Guardians took a 2-1 lead in the eighth inning off of Tigers reliever pitcher Beau Brieske. Bo Naylor led off the inning with a walk, stole second base and scored on a two-out single by Josh Naylor. Tigers second baseman Colt Keith got a glove on the ball, but it trickled into center field.
Guardians pitchers Scott Barlow, Tim Herrin, Hunter Gaddis delivered quality work in relief of Tanner Bibee. Barlow recorded four outs, Herrin recorded two outs and Gaddis struck out three.
Guardians 1, Tigers 1 headed to bottom of the eighth inning.
Guardians media relations says in the press box that Tanner Bibee exited with lower extremity cramping.

Guardians ace pitcher Tanner Bibee has left the game with an apparent injury before the top of the sixth inning.
Bibee was on the mound getting prepared to start the inning and was unable to go. Guardians coaches and trainers checked on Bibee who walked off the field after a conversation.
Bibee pitched five innings and allowed two hits and one earned run. He struck out four and walked one. Matt Vierling hit a home run off Bibee in the first inning and Colt Keith hit a single in the fourth inning. Bibee struck out Mark Canha twice.
Guardians manager Stephen Vogt called on Scott Barlow to pitch and he delivered a 1-2-3 top of the sixth inning.

The Guardians tied the score at 1-1 in the fifth with two-out singles by Bo Naylor and Steven Kwan off of Jack Flaherty.
Andres Gimenez popped out to second baseman Colt Keith and Daniel Schneeman struck out before Naylor hit a single to right field and Kwan smacked a single to left-center field. Angel Martinez flew out to right fielder Wenceel Perez to end the inning.
Angel Martinez recorded Cleveland's first hit of the night with a single to right field to leadoff the fourth inning and Josh Naylor walked with one out, but neither scored as Jack Flaherty worked out of the jam.
Flaherty struck out Jose Ramirez after the hit by Martinez and struck out Jhonkensy Noel after Naylor walked. Will Brennan grounded out to end the inning as Flaherty fielded the ball and threw it to Tigers first baseman Gio Urshela.
Jack Flaherty is pitching well for the Tigers through three innings as the Guardians have had just one batter reach base as Bo Nayor walked with two outs in the third.
The only hit of the game was Matt Vierling's solo home run in the first inning.
Matt Vierling hit a solo home run over the right field fence with two outs to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Tanner Bibee bounced back from the homer to strikeout Riley Greene to end the inning.
