CLEVELAND (WJW) – U.S. Marshals say a wanted fugitive accused of killing a man in front of his children two years ago was arrested in Cleveland on Wednesday.

Trevonne Clemons, 31, was wanted by the Cleveland Division of Police for the aggravated murder of Terry Ferguson, according to officials.

The shooting happened on July 16, 2022, at a home in the 3300 block of East 73rd Street. Clemons allegedly shot Ferguson multiple times in front of his kids during an argument.

Wednesday morning, detectives learned that Clemons was staying at a home in South Euclid . After the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrived at the scene, officials say Clemons barricaded himself inside.

After a two-hour standoff, Clemons surrendered to officers, U.S. Marshals say.

“This case has been open for almost exactly two years and the task force never gave up looking for this suspect,” said U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott. “The U.S. Marshals will never give up on finding fugitives who commit violence in our communities.”
