WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — The Cleveland Browns are nearing their first off day of training camp. However, they still have to get through Saturday first.

Sunday will be the Browns' first true day off over their stay at The Greenbrier. They will then practice for five consecutive days, although Wednesday's is actually a walk-through and not a practice.

First up is Saturday morning's practice. After that practice owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam are expected to speak with the media for the first time since their small-group interview, which included the Beacon Journal, at March's Owners Meetings in Orlando, Fla.

Follow here for updates from Saturday's practice in West Virginia.

Off day awaits Cleveland Browns on Sunday

Sunday is the Browns' only true day off during their time at The Greenbrier. They're scheduled to then have five consecutive work days before flying back to Cleveland after Friday morning's practice.

Wednesday, though, isn't a full-on practice day, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski.

“Yeah, Wednesday we’re working," Stefanski said. "Just not necessarily a traditional practice. But we’re working on Wednesday. So, you have a true off day on Sunday with the players.”

Deshaun Watson solid in red-zone 7 on 7 session

The third day of training camp saw as extensive a collection of competitive periods that has occurred in camp to this point. The hour-and-40-minute practice closed out with a 7 on 7 red zone period, with quarterback Deshaun Watson getting a total of nine plays during the drill.

Watson finished 6 of 8 in the session. That included four "touchdown passes.

The six completions for Watson were as follows:

    • 5-yard hook route to Elijah Moore
    • 7-yard slant to David Bell, who went down to the ground to make the catch, for a touchdown
    • 4-yard swing pass to John Kelly Jr. out of the backfield for a touchdown
    • 7-yard slant to Moore, after having held the ball for an extra second, for a touchdown
    • 6-yard touchdown to a wide-open D'Onta Foreman in swing pass after Watson first held the ball before rolling to his right
    • 4-yard touchdown to David Njoku on a crossing pattern where Watson looked off another receiver

Center Brian Allen leaves with a trainer

Brian Allen was signed in the spring as a potential backup center. The problem with Allen’s time with his old team, the Los Angeles Rams, was injuries.

Allen’s injury concerns cropped up on Saturday when he walked into the trainer’s room about a half hour into practice. He was noticeably limping as he walked off the field with a trainer by his side.

Myles Garrett, Jerry Jeudy among players working with trainers

Defensive end Myles Garrett continues his "ramp-up" to the season with his third consecutive day not practicing. Garrett, who tweaked his right hamstring on the final day of minicamp in June, was among a group of players working off to the side Saturday with the training staff.

The full list of players were:

    • Defensive end Myles Garrett
    • Running back Nick Chubb
    • Wide receiver Jerry Jeudy
    • Running back Nyheim Hines
    • Cornerback Cameron Mitchell
    • Safety D'Anthony Bell
    • Offensive tackle Jedrick Wills Jr.
    • Guard Wyatt Davis

Head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked specifically about Jeudy, whom the Browns acquired in a trade with the Denver Broncos in March. He didn't sound overly concerned about any long-term absence.

"He's ramping up," Stefanski said. "He's getting better. Yeah, he's close."

Dalvin Tomlinson undergoes successful knee surgery

Defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson had an arthroscopic surgery on his knee on Friday. Head coach Kevin Stefanski reported the surgery was successful.

There's been no timeline given for an official return to the field for the veteran. The hope was that Tomlinson would be able to return in time for the Sept. 8 season opener against the Dallas Cowboys.

Deshaun Watson fully cleared to participate in team drills

Quarterback Deshaun Watson took all of the first-team reps on Friday during 11 on 11 drills. That was the first time since his Nov. 21 shoulder surgery that he's participated in such drills, as well as the first time he threw on back-to-back days in an organized setting.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski also confirmed that Watson was also fully cleared to participate in team drills when the pads come on Monday.

"I would just say he's right where he needs to be," Stefanski said. "Obviously, quarterbacks don't have to worry about contact in these practices, but he's doing a good job. He's got that colored jersey on there. They can't touch him, but he's right on track."

Nyheim Hines continues to progress through rehab

Running back Nyheim Hines has not participated in any on-field drills since signing as a free agent with the Browns in March. Hines, who missed all of last season while with the Buffalo Bills, sustained a torn anterior cruciate ligament last July during a jet ski accident.

Hines said during OTAs in May that his goal was to hopefully be back on the field practicing by Aug. 1. He's spent the first three days at The Greenbrier working to the side with the training staff.

"I don't have an update on exactly when that will be," head coach Kevin Stefanski said Saturday, "but another guy that's done everything we've asked him to do, he's working very hard. We'll see when he comes off that list."

Hines, along with cornerback Greg Newsome II (hamstring surgery), were the two Browns players placed on the non-football injury list.

David Njoku returns to the practice field

Tight end David Njoku was among the players who spent the first two days at The Greenbrier working off to the side with a trainer. He was back on the field on Saturday.

Nick Chubb 'right where he needs to be,' according to Kevin Stefanski

Nick Chubb drew a crowd of onlookers on Friday afternoon as the Browns running back went through a series of full-speed sprints, as well as some mild cutting drills after practice. It was the first time he had been seen in person by the media doing rehab work since his Sept. 18 knee injury.

Head coach Kevin Stefanski was asked on Saturday about if Chubb was pretty close to a potential return to football activities.

"I think I'm not going to put a speculate on that part of it other than to say I've seen him run and seen him work out and he's right where he needs to be," Stefanski said. "As we've talked about all along, he's attacking this rehab, he's in early, staying late. I give a lot of credit to Nick, give a lot of credit to our medical team that are bringing him along, but we're not going to worry about much past today with that."

Chubb underwent two separate surgeries on the knee. One was on Sept. 29, while the other was on Nov. 14.
