PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (WKBN) – The Cleveland Guardians have announced that starting pitcher Joey Cantillo will make his Major League debut in Sunday’s series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies.

According to MLB.com, Cantillo is rated the No. 10 prospect in Cleveland’s minor league system.

The 24-year-old will be officially added to the MLB roster on Sunday, requiring a corresponding roster move.

The left-hander has started seven games at Triple-A Columbus this season, posting a record of 1-1 with a 2.79 ERA. He has struck out 39 batters in 29 innings of work.

Cantillo was acquired by Cleveland in the 2020 blockbuster trade with the Padres that sent Mike Clevinger to San Diego.
