TRACKING: Systems of frequent rain and thunder

(WJW) – We are heading into an active weather week with above-average temperatures, extremely high humidity, and multiple systems expected to bring frequent rain and thunder.

Here’s the breakdown:

Monday : Warm and muggy with temperatures in the mid-80s. A sprinkle or two in the morning with a few clouds. In the afternoon, scattered showers and a few thunderstorms across eastern areas.

Monday’s futurecast: Slow-moving thunderstorms with pockets of heavy rain. The timing will mainly be between 1 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Tuesday : Spotty storms with less rain coverage than Monday.

Wednesday : A break before a stronger front arrives late Thursday/Friday and into Saturday.

Rain is needed across much of Northeast Ohio. A large part of the area is under moderate drought conditions. Here’s a look at the official rainfall numbers from across the area since June 1. The rainfall deficit this summer in Cleveland is around 3 inches. The rainfall deficit in Mansfield is over 5 inches.
