WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. — Weather has arrived at Cleveland Browns training camp.

Rain has been in the forecast for a majority of the day Monday in the area around The Greenbrier. That includes some substantial thunderstorm threats, especially in the afternoon.

That has already led the Browns to move their practice up to 8:45 a.m. in an attempt to beat at least some of the showers. Of course, it was already raining by the time that hour arrived.

Monday is also the day the Browns are getting the pads back on for the first time. This won't be your father's — or grandfather's — first padded practice, though, so it won't be over-the-top in terms of high contact.

Follow along here for major updates from the Browns' fourth camp practice Monday, as well as any important things said by head coach Kevin Stefanski.

Mike Hall Jr., Dawand Jones, Za’Darius Smith not practicing

Rookie Mike Hall Jr., second-year offensive tackle Dawand Jones and defensive end Za’Darius Smith all were absent from practice Monday. Smith was the only one who had a reason given, those being personal.

Stefanski said it wasn’t injuries for either Hall or Jones. All he would say otherwise was that they would be back out soon.

Browns sign guard Zach Johnson, place Brian Allen on injured reserve

The Browns made a roster move prior to Monday’s practice. They signed guard Zach Johnson, while placing C/G Brian Allen on injured reserve.

Allen left Saturday’s practice with a calf injury. Injuries have been a problem for him throughout his career with the Los Angeles Rams.

Jerome Ford back in training camp after birth of child

Running back Jerome Ford was back on the practice field Monday. He had missed the first three practices for what was termed “personal reasons.

After practice, Stefanski confirmed that Ford had a new “bundle of joy.” He wouldn’t go into details, saying he wanted Ford to do that on his own.
