    Nick Chubb.

Browns running back Nick Chubb is continuing to make his way back from his 2023 season-ending injury.

In Week 2 of last season, the four-time Pro Bowler suffered a torn MCL and a damaged ACL to the same knee he injured in 2015 at Georgia.

That has left his status for the start of the 2024 season up in the air, but general manager Andrew Berry offered an encouraging update on the seventh-year running back during a news conference on Monday.

"We are incredibly pleased with the work that he's put in, the progress he's made," Berry told reporters . "He still has a little ways to go, but we're really happy to see where he is as we enter camp and look forward to him [continuing] to improve the health of the knee."

Chubb is currently on Cleveland's PUP (physically unable to perform) list, but he has been reportedly working off to the side running sprints during training camp.

The Browns have not set a timetable for Chubb to make his return and Berry confirmed that is not changing quite yet, either.

"We'll deal with it day by day," Berry stated.

However, Chubb has come back from a similar injury before and went on to become one of the best running backs in the NFL, with four straight 1,000-rushing-yard seasons (2019-22).

It may be a bit more difficult for the 28-year-old to return as the same player this time around, but if more time will help him get close, it will be worth the wait.

Since entering the league as the No. 35 overall pick in 2018, Chubb has rushed for 6,511 yards (5.3 yards per carry) and 48 touchdowns.

In the meantime, running backs Jerome Ford and D'Onta Foreman, who rushed for a combined 1,238 yards and eight touchdowns in 2023, will lead Cleveland's backfield.
