Browns training camp clips fuel polarizing Deshaun Watson reactions

One doesn’t have to look far online to find Cleveland Browns training camp footage that paints star quarterback Deshaun Watson in a negative light.

By all accounts from within and around the organization, though, Watson is right on track as he works his way back from shoulder surgery.

Still, those pesky clips of errant or contested throws tend to go viral more than the highlights these days, which in turn fuels the perception.

Former player and current analyst Mike Golic, for example, recently appeared on 92.3 The Fan’s “Afternoon Drive” and said the following, according to Earnest Horn of Browns Nation: “Everybody is waiting for Deshaun Watson to get back to what he was; I don’t know if he’s ever going to get there, quite honestly.”

And as Cleveland.com ’s Mary Kay Cabot explained, this recent throw that went viral ended Watson’s day early:

As always, the truth of Watson’s injury comeback is probably somewhere in the middle and ups-and-downs for any player early in camp aren’t shocking.

But for Watson’s ability, injury history, contract, and all of the other major factors that go into the outlook, it’s no wonder Browns training camp has a bigger magnifying glass on it than most as Watson goes through those choppy waters.
