Profit margins for Naples area home sales drop in 2nd quarter
Home sellers across the U.S. earned an average 55.8% profit margin on typical single-family home and condo sales during the second quarter, according to data from land, property and real estate curator Attom’s second-quarter 2024 U.S. Home Sales Report. That figure was largely unchanged, rising about 1% from the first quarter, but remaining down 1% from the second quarter of last year. The Naples area had the fifth biggest year-over-year decrease in typical profit margins, dropping from 84.9% to 69.2%. It trailed only Hilo, Hawaii (down from 80.5% to 45.3%), Port St. Lucie (down from 95% to 73.9%), Daphne-Fairhope (down from 49.8% to 45.1%) and Crestview-Fort Walton Beach (down from 60.7% to 45.1%). Naples was among the top metropolitan areas where all-cash sales represented the largest share of transactions in the second quarter with 61.5%.
