Elementary school teacher sentenced in fatal Greenacres-area vehicle crash
A suburban Lake Worth Beach woman was sentenced to three years in prison this week for a 2022 vehicle crash that killed a man near Greenacres. Elizabeth Owens, 27, learned her fate on Monday, July 1, during a hearing before Circuit Judge Jeffrey Gillen at the Palm Beach County Courthouse. She pleaded guilty in March to vehicular homicide in a Dec. 21, 2022 two-car collision that killed 68-year-old Willie Swoope. Her plea was entered without an offer from the state.

Building where Parkland school shooting happened fully torn down
PARKLAND, Fla. (CBS12) — After more than six years, the site in Parkland where 17 people lost their lives to a school shooter has been fully demolished. Crews have completed tearing down the 1200 building on the campus of Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. They started in mid-June, when a crane began pulling down sections of the three-story structure, which had been known as the freshman building.
