A tractor-trailer exploded into flames today on Route 3 in Clifton, near Valley Road, sending a fireball across the busy highway. All lanes are closed. A resident in the area captured the large fire and smoke on Route 3 in Clifton billowing into the sky. (News 12 photo: Chris Keating) A nearby resident told News 12 New Jersey's Tony Caputo that she heard the explosion while inside her home on Potter Road in Clifton and then looked out the window and saw three large fireballs, one at a time. Drone 12 was over the scene.

‘Heard this really big boom.’ Woman recounts evacuating home due to Route 3 fire

News 12 New Jersey’s Chris Keating spoke with a woman who could feel the heat from the explosions when she walked outside her home on Notch Road. The houses on this road are in front of the wall that separates the houses from Route 3 westbound. There is no word yet on a cause, or injuries at this time but some nearby homes may be evacuated.
