New restaurant leases 4,600 sq. ft., opens at Hoboken apartment building, RIPCO says
A new restaurant has taken nearly 4,600 square feet at the base of an apartment building in western Hoboken, in a newly announced deal by RIPCO Real Estate. In a news release, the brokerage team said BYRD is now open at 800 Jackson St., noting that it is the sister restaurant of Common Lot in Millburn. The eatery’s 4,585-square-foot space includes outdoor seating and benefits from what RIPCO described as extensive cosmetic renovations, while the operator has secured a liquor license for the business.
SUNY College of Optometry NOSA Chapter Takes Top Honors
(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK, NY — The SUNY College of Optometry National Optometric Student Association (NOSA) took top honors at the National Optometric Association (NOA) Conference held in Philadelphia, PA July 11 – 14, 2024. SUNY Optometry was awarded NOSA Chapter of the Year, and three students were recognized with NOSA Executive Board Scholarships: Melinda Morvai, Taylor Greaves and Christine “Chin-Yen” Chou. Ms. Greaves was also elected as the NOSA National Vice-President.

Homeless Woman Accidentally Locked In Store After Closure
GLEN ROCK, NJ - Be careful when using a store restroom near closing time, you risk getting locked in! "The woman, who was cooperative with the officers, recounted that she was using the restroom near closing time after checking with a store employee," police said. "When she exited the restroom, she found that the store had been closed for the night and no staff members were present. She then unlocked the front door to leave and triggered the alarm." Her story matched with the video surveillance footage. Police offered the woman assistance finding shelter for the evening; however, she declined and left the area. Route 3 in Clifton fully reopened after deadly crash but cleanup continues
The state Department of Transportation worked through Tuesday morning to clean up the aftermath of the explosive truck crash that took place on Monday, causing a complete shutdown of Route 3 and leaving one man dead.
