The Central Texas Youth Fair’s Board of Directors named Gene and Ginger Albrecht as the 2024 honorees.

Gene and Ginger moved back to Clifton after graduation from the University of Houston Pharmacy School in 1968. Gene was a pharmacist at Colvert’s Pharmacy. The Albrechts purchased the pharmacy from the Colverts in 1972. Gene and Ginger continued to support the Central Texas Youth Fair with donations each year thereafter. They attended the Saturday sale each year and enjoyed buying different animals and welding projects. Gene and Ginger both enjoy the smiles on the youths’ faces.

Gene’s brother Clinton Albrecht is also a pharmacist and became a partner in 1983. Both Gene and Clinton continued to support the Central Texas Youth Fair with participating in fair activities and purchasing various youths’ fair projects.

Gene and Ginger’s goal was to instill and invest for the future of the local youth. They needed and wanted to promote and support the youth to become future farmers and ranchers for the county, state, and country. The Albrechts truly believe that the country may some day be needing food and meat for future generations, and the youth will help provide this.

Gene and Ginger also support the Bosque Arts Center, Bosque Animal Rescue Kennels (BARK), Clifton Chamber of Commerce, and Bosque Museum, where Gene served on the board of trustees. Gene has also served on the board of Goodall-Witcher Hospital Foundation for many years. Gene and Ginger also support Goodall-Witcher Healthcare Hospital, Lutheran Sunset Ministries, and other local organizations.

Gene and Ginger retired from the pharmacy in 2020, after serving Bosque County and surrounding communities for over 50 years. They miss the many customers and friendships made over all the years. Gene continues to serve on the board of Clifton Higher Education Foundation. Gene and Ginger Albrecht both say that they have been so blessed by their Lord and truly believe it is a gift to “pass it on.”

Gene and Ginger Albrecht stated that it is a great honor to be selected as the 2024 Fair Honorees. They will continue to serve the community and the youth of the Central Texas Youth Fair, and they hope to continue to have a positive impact on the many Bosque County youth (past, present and future) now and forever.
