    Report: Clifton library recorded 692 visits in April

    The Nellie Pederson Civic Library recorded 703 visits in April 2024, according to its monthly report to the Clifton City Council.

    The amount of money saved by patrons in April was $8,072, the report by Library Director Lewis Stansell said.

    In April 2024, total circulations were 1,040; reference transactions, 52; computer use, 72, the report said.

    For the fiscal year, a total of 2,980 people have visited the library; patrons have saved $41,524 to date; and total circulations have been 5,289, the report said.

    Stansell reported that he had attended an online seminar for the new inter-library loan system (Share-it) on April 2-4. The Texas State Library and Archives Commission hoped to have the new system online by September 1, 2024, he said.

    The library hosted the ladies book club on April 3. There were five in attendance, he reported.

    Stansell said he attended a workshop on book repair on April 10 at Howard Payne University in Brownwood.

    On April 16 and 23, the library hosted the Zentangle art club; a total of 13 attended for the month, the report said.

    Pat and Rosemary Richardson canceled their monthly Medicare workshop on Monday, April 22, the report said. Their next workshop is scheduled for Monday, May 20.

    The library's advisory board was to hold its meeting on Tuesday, April 30, at 1 p.m. at the library. The public is invited to attend these advisory board meetings.

    The library will be closed on Monday, May 27, in observance of Memorial Day. The library will re-open on Tuesday, May 28, at 9 a.m.

    The mission of the Nellie Pederson Civic Library is to be the cornerstone of the community, providing information, resources, programs and services that will educate and enrich the lives of all generations.

    Managed by the City of Clifton, the library is located behind the Clifton Civic Center at 406 Live Oak Street in Clifton.

    Additional input is provided by a Library Advisory Board, whose members include representatives of the City of Clifton, the Clifton Civic Improvement Society, and local residents.

    The library’s hours of operation are Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. 4:30 p.m.; the library is closed Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
