Where do people want to move? According to a new study, most of the hottest housing markets are in parts of the US that rarely face climate disasters. Some are considered among the most climate-safe metros in the nation.

Where Not To Live Hurricane Prone Miami

A new study from This Old House picked America’s ten hottest housing markets based on home demand and affordability.

    The top ten markets were:

    Rochester, NY Manchester-Nashua, NH

    Hartford-East Hartford-Middleton, CT

    Oshkosh-Neenah, WI

    Springfield, MA

    Norwich-New London, CT

    Concord, NH

    New Haven-Milford, CT

    Akron, OH

    Rockford, IL

Notably, many of these cities are within a short distance of one another–inland in the northeast quadrant of the country. The areas from inland Massachusetts and New Hampshire through Connecticut, Ohio, Michigan, and Wisconsin rarely suffered from doubt or floods. The weather is usually temperate.

A growing body of research shows that Americans consider the climate when they decide to move or move because of climate. Over time, cities with weather problems, like Phoenix, Las Vegas, and Miami, will lose their popularity after being among the fastest-growing cities in America for over a decade.
