CLINTONClinton Community Schools will begin the 2024-25 school year with a new kindergarten-fifth grade assistant principal at Clinton Elementary School.

Amy Chandler, an educator with a career than spans 26 years, is the elementary school’s new assistant principal, as announced by the Clinton district in a news release dated July 15.

“Ms. Chandler brings a wealth of experience and a strong commitment to education, making her a valuable addition to our administrative team,” the district said.

Chandler has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education with a minor in English Language Arts (ELA) for kindergarten-eighth grade. She also holds a master’s degree in reading and has a reading specialist endorsement for kindergarten-12th grade, “reflecting her dedication to fostering literacy and reading skills among students,” the district praised.

Her career in education began at Dearborn Public Schools where she taught first, second and third grades for nine years. She also taught at the Manchester Co-op Preschool for two years.

At Clinton Community Schools, Chandler has served in various roles for the past 15 years, starting as a reading specialist supporting elementary students. Her expertise in reading instruction extended to teaching reading classes at the middle and high school levels.

Most recently, she has been an instructional coach, assisting teachers with best practices in reading instruction, the news release detailed. She also has experience as a first-grade teacher at the elementary school. Her involvement in the Clinton community is deep-rooted, the district said. She is a mother of three Clinton graduates from the classes of 2021 and 2024.
