    Industrial coatings company invests $30M in new Clinton plant

    Nordson Industrial Coating Systems is establishing their newest manufacturing facility in Laurens County. With an investment of $30 million and the creation of 125 new production, machining, engineering and management jobs, the facilitywill be located at 19375 Highway 72 E. in Clinton, according to a news release.

    The Nordson ICS division was founded in 1954 to produce and market airless spray equipment. Today, manufacturers use ICS equipment for the precise application and curing of powder coatings, liquid paint, ambient temperature adhesives and sealants, and food and beverage container production, the news release stated. Nordson customers use their equipment to prevent corrosion by applying powder coating to hub caps, dishwashers, soda cans and more.

    “We are very excited to be part of South Carolina’s upstate manufacturing sector,” Nordson ICS Vice President David Titone said in the release. “It has been a pleasure working with the state of South Carolina, Laurens County, and the city of Clinton on our new facility. We would like to thank them for their outstanding support and look forward to their continuing partnership for years to come.”

    Nordson’s global headquarters is in Westlake, Ohio, according to the company website.

    Over the past decades, Nordson has grown to become a self-renewing, global organization with operations around the world. The ICS division’s new 225,000 square-foot facility in Clinton, expected to be operational by November, will continue to fuel the Nordson’s growth, the company said in the release. The company is already hiring . Ready SC is assisting.

    “We are thrilled to welcome Nordson Corporation to Clinton, marking the beginning of a fantastic partnership,” ReadySC ’s Senior Area Director Susan Heath said in the release. “ReadySC, along with Piedmont Technical College, is ready to assist Nordson with their recruiting and training needs.”

    Titone said the company, which has operations in 35 countries, looks forward to being part of the Clinton area.

    “We also look forward to building relationships in Laurens County,” Titone said in the release. “We have a long history of supporting the communities where we live and work through our Nordson Impact giving program, and as we grow, we are proud to positively impact more people each year through volunteering, donations, scholarships and more.”

    Laurens County Council Chair Brown Patterson welcomes the company to the community.

    “We are extremely excited for Nordson to call Laurens County home,” Patterson said in the release. “Laurens County is a great place to do business, and we look forward to a long successful relationship with our newest corporate citizen.”

    Clinton Mayor Randy Randall added: “The city of Clinton would like to welcome Nordson to Clinton and the Clinton 26 Commerce Park. We are thrilled for their commitment to our city and wish them much success with their new facility.”
