Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell are not only longtime partners, but collaborators as well! The actress opened up about what her favorite thing was about working with her beau on the 1987 film Overboard.

“The best part of the movie was working with Kurt — not because I loved him, and not because he’s endlessly talented,” she said during a recent appearance on Good Morning America. “But he is like me. We’re workers, and he really gets on that set and knows what works, what doesn’t, and we’re on time and we literally work together … like a nice symphony.”

“We’ve got a work ethic,” she added. “No matter what’s happening in your life, the show must go on.”

The couple never married, but they have had quite an amazing journey together in the public eye.

“We’re very, very aligned in our sense of humor,” Goldie said. “Sometimes you’re not aligned in other areas, right? We’re humans that are different. Each person comes in with a different personality, but there’s so much I do love about Kurt, and one of them is his sense of humor.”

The Academy Award-winning actress and the Elvis actor welcomed son Wyatt Russell in 1986, one year before Overboard was released. Kurt also shares son Boston Russell with ex-wife Season Hubley, while Goldie shares kids Kate and Oliver Hudson with ex-husband Bill Hudson. The pair are also grandparents to eight grandchildren.

And they have strong family ties, as they live close to all of their children.

“I think that we’d kind of rather be with us,” Goldie said. “Back in the day, when we would do little trips and stuff, the kids used to say, ‘Can it just be us, Mommy?’ And that’s the way we still are, even though we’ve grown up.”

In the past, the longtime Hollywood couple have opened up several times about why they felt like they did not need to get married.

“Marriage didn’t work for either one of us,” Goldie said on Today in November 2020. “I’m not saying that it wouldn’t work again, but I didn’t think that we really needed to get married. I mean, what marriage ended up being, in many ways, is big business.”

She echoed the same sentiment during a 2023 interview with CNN.

“Relationships are hard,” she said at the time. “They’re not always easy. There’s all kind of hurdles that we go through. There’s things that we believe and things that we don’t believe in that we agree on.”

“So I think ultimately staying independent with independent thinking is important so you can hold onto yourself and you can actually have that feeling,” Goldie added.

But sources told Closer that the topic of marriage is something they discuss at home regularly.

“Their friends and family are sick of them flip-flopping over the issue and wish they’d make up their minds already — or just stop talking about it,” an insider told Closer on October 10.
