Fans Weigh in on Whether Snoop Dogg Should Replace Hoda Kotb on ‘Today’: He Would ‘Add Excitement’

With Hoda Kotb ’s Today departure looming in the distance, fans have thrown a new name in the ring as her potential replacement — Snoop Dogg !

It was announced that Snoop, 52, will be guest hosting Today With Hoda & Jenna on Thursday, October 17, with Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager . The show shared the news on its official Instagram account, where the comments section flooded with remarks about how the rapper would be a good replacement for Hoda, 60, when the time comes for her to leave.

“I love to watch snoop dog 🐕 a good replacement,” one person wrote in a comment under the post, while another said, “I love him! He’s the sweetest guy.”

“Well, now that Hoda is leaving the show, her only replscement [sic] can be Snoop,” another person commented. Another comment said, ​​”Snoop would add some excitement !”

However, others were rather skeptical about whether or not bringing Snoop in to replace Hoda would be the right fit for the show.

“Do NOT replace Hoda with snoop!!! He’s funny to watch here and there but is in no way the right fit for a permanent post!” one comment said.

Other viewers threw some other names into the ring as speculation about Hoda’s replacement continues to grow.

“We want MARIA SHRIVER TO REPLACE HODA!!! MARIA. MARIA. MARIA. MARIA. MARIA,” a fan said.

“NO NO. He isn't a good fit for this show!!! Willie would be better if you want a man. It should be a women!! A strong women who loves books!!” a different fan wrote, referring to network favorite Willie Geist .

“This show needs a woman!” another person said.

So far, Hoda’s official replacement has not yet been announced by NBC. The longtime broadcaster will be leaving Today in early 2025 , but she will still remain a part of the network.

On October 10, Closer asked Savannah Guthrie if she was interested in taking over Hoda’s role on Today With Hoda & Jenna and she had a rather interesting answer.

“Oh my gosh, of course, I mean, I love Jenna,” she said. “I think they’ll probably go in a different direction.”

“I think by 10:00, the show has had enough of me,” the Mostly What God Does Author added. “But I’m here for a fill-in anytime. Jenna is one of my dear friends, too. The thing I’ll say is our show is in great hands. It’s not about one person or two people. There’s an entire cast, an entire ensemble, and we’re family.”

Savannah, 52, admitted that she is sad to see Hoda walk away from the talk show in which she is such an integral part of.

“It’s easy to leave something that’s hard,” she explained. “It’s not that easy to leave something that’s wonderful, and she loves it, and she knows how blessed she is but she’s boldly stepping out into this future, a future that she hasn’t written yet, a future that she’s not totally certain what it will look like, but she believes in herself enough to know I can take this step.”
