Hoda Kotb is excited to spend her first Halloween in her new home with her two daughters, Haley and Hope. The family recently moved to the suburbs and are certainly getting into the holiday spirit.

“Halloween is so fun in the suburbs,” Hoda, 60, told Jenna Bush Hager during an episode of Today With Hoda & Jenna on Friday, October 18. “We used to go trick-or-treating at CVS and the dry cleaners and [a nail salon]. … My kids thought trick-or-treating was walking into a store and having the lady behind the counter put some [candy] in your bag.”

But now that she moved out of New York City and into the suburbs, Hoda has already noticed some big differences in her new neighborhood, including the Halloween decorations.

“Everywhere I look in our town, [there’s] those big spiderwebs, all the things,” she said during the broadcast. “They have parades. They said, ‘Your kid needs three Halloween costumes or else the first one’s gonna get all ruined.’”

Haley, 7, and Hope, 5, have a lot to look forward to on October 31 this year, including the town Halloween parade, as well as a special parade at school. After that, they’ll head out for some trick-or-treating. “Some people block off their streets for block parties and then go trick-or-treating and then come back,” the mom of two explained of the Halloween traditions in her new town. “It’s a days-long thing.”

Jenna, 42, was impressed by how much Hoda has been embracing suburban life with her kiddos after raising them in her NYC apartment. Hoda mentioned that she will be carving pumpkins at her house in the coming days.

“I feel like I don’t even know you,” Jenna joked, to which Hoda responded, “I can’t even believe what I’m doing right now. We’re inviting people over, people are coming over, we’re having dinner, ordering pizza and salads, come join us at our table. This is crazy.”

All in all, Hoda has been very happy with her move. In September, she opened up about taking her girls to their first day at their new school.

“We went for our first day of school,” Hoda said during a September 4 episode of Today. “I carried a coffee and I had my sneakers and I walked my kids to school. It was awesome!”

She mentioned how their were several other children walking to school that morning too, which made her think of her own childhood.

“We’ve had seven great years in the city with kids and that’s amazing, but I also think kids need to have their feet in the grass and dirt,” Hoda said of the decision to move.

“I feel like I’m in this repotting phase of my life,” Hoda previously said during an episode of her “Making Space” podcast. “I just feel it. I feel like my roots need a bigger pot, in all kinds of things. I’m physically moving with my kids, which was a big deal for us.”

That same month, she revealed that she would be leaving Today in early 2025 to spend more time with her kids.
