Charlie Musselwhite: ‘I ain’t lyin’!’
Charlie Musselwhite, who is coming to the Luther Burbank Center this Saturday as part of a blues program with Elvin Bishop and Taj Mahal, used to live in Geyserville. That much is well known locally, though while he wasn’t exactly a hermit he didn’t play the part of a local celebrity, either. He did have an hour-long blues program on KRSH-FM on Sundays, its purported location being the back porch of a house in Clarksdale, Mississippi, overlooking the Sunflower River.
Foppiano Winery Sold to Graton’s Martin Ray
Martin Ray is the resurrection of a venerable name from wine history, and the same thing could happen to Foppiano. Only Foppiano never really went away. The big warehouse by the side of Old Redwood Highway, Foppiano Vineyards, is almost invisibly familiar to locals, though a random stream of tourists is happy to find out about its petite sirah, chardonnay and pinot noir.

Mendocino Flavors: Amazing biscuits and gravy in Hopland; Mendocino Cookie Co. celebrates 40 years, Gowan’s wins big and more
MENDOCINO Co., 7/18/24 — Being from the Midwest, one of the hardest dishes for me to find in California is biscuits and gravy — sausage gravy, in particular. My parents, both from the East Coast, found it a not-so-tasty offering when they first moved to Indiana. However, it grew on me over the years as a solid comfort dish that takes me back to carbing up after an early morning hike in the hills of southern Indiana or a recovery fix after a long night of partying. Either way, it’s been tough to find one in California that satisfies me like those at the country diners I grew up visiting.

A popular Sonoma County chef denied three workers at its Healdsburg, California establishment of more than $35,000 in overtime wages, according to the U.S. Department of Labor. Investigators in the department’s Wage and Hour Division say chef Octavio Diaz shortchanged three employees at Agave Mexican Restaurant and Bar by depriving...

Are you an impromptu wine taster? If so, you’re in luck in Sonoma County
The free spirit who believes the best adventures unfold without a plan is a potential customer being courted by an increasing number of Sonoma County wineries angling for more walk-in business. The trend, which is not so much a pivot away from the appointment-only mainstream for many smaller wineries, is more of an addition to the tasting options offered across Wine Country. And there is good ...

‘Yoga on Center’ Comes Back to Town
Healdsburg’s only full-time yoga studio, the nearly 20-year-old Yoga on Center, is moving back to the downtown area this summer—two-and-a-half years after the owners say they got kicked out of their original location at 401 Center St. It was a light-filled space overlooking one of Healdsburg’s most bustling...
The Wine Makers – Ross Cobb, Cobb Wines
Ross Cobb makes world-class Pinot Noir & Chardonnay from vineyards that are only 3-5 miles from the Pacific Ocean in Northern California. The extreme weather conditions and his numerous trips to Burgundy have definitely shaped his style, along with his previous positions at Williams Selyem and Hirsch. His parents purchased property at the coast in the late 80’s and Ross has since become an expert in cool climate farming. His other passions include skateboarding, collecting vinyl and playing guitar. Cobb wines are featured at the best restaurants in California and New York, we were lucky enough to try the new 21 vintages. [Ep330]
