A wildfire burning north of Cloverdale grew to 6 acres Tuesday evening before fire crews were able to get it under control, Cal Fire officials said.

Cal Fire called the blaze, which was reported at about 4:30 p.m., the Preston Fire.

Air resources, as well as fire engines and water tankers, were requested, according to social media postings and emergency broadcast channels.

But just before 5:30 p.m., Cal Fire spokesperson Jason Clay said “some air tankers have been released.”

He was not aware of any structures being threatened and verified just after 6 p.m. that the fire was no longer spreading.

The Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit reported that flames had burned uphill in vegetation on the east side of Geysers Road near Preston Drive.

No injuries were reported and a cause is not yet known.
