    This is where the Central Valley’s cooling centers are

    FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – Amidst the weeklong heatwave, several cooling centers in the Central Valley have opened their doors to host residents looking to cool down.

    Cooling centers open once temperatures reach 105 degrees, and these are some of the cooling centers throughout the Valley for those who need to refresh:

    Fresno County

    Fresno

    In Fresno, cooling centers will be open from noon to 8 p.m. once temperatures reach or exceed 105 degrees Fahrenheit. There are three cooling centers in the city, which are:

    Maxie L Parks Center at 1802 E. California Ave.

    Ted C. Wills Community Center at 770 N. San Pablo Ave.

    Mosqueda Community Center at 4670 E. Butler Ave.

    FAX buses will provide free transportation along normal routes to these facilities when operating as cooling or warming centers. For more information on routes and times, click here .

    Clovis

    In Clovis, the Sierra Vista Mall at 1050 Shaw Ave., will serve as a cooling center from Monday to Saturday starting at 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. and Sunday beginning at noon until 6 p.m.

    Clovis Transit, according to officials, is free when temperatures reach or exceed 105 degrees. For more information, click here.

    Complimentary water will be also available at the mall’s customer service booth.

    Sanger

    In Sanger, the city will be hosting its cooling center at the City Annex Building at 1789 Jensen Ave., beginning noon until 6 p.m. Officials say people need to enter using the West Side doors off of Hoag Avenue and once they do so, they are required to sign in.

    Officials say the cooling center was made available thanks to a PG&E grant.

    Madera County

    Madera

    Cooling centers in Madera opened on Monday and will continue being open until Friday, July 5, due to anticipated excessive heat, according to officials. Those centers are:

    The Madera Police Department is at 330 S. C Street, and it will serve as a cooling center 24 hours. This cooling center will be open during the weekend on July 6 and 7.

    Pan American Community Center at 703 Sherwood Way, open from 8 am. to 7 p.m.

    John W. Wells Youth Center Lobby from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. This cooling center will be open during the weekend on July 6 and 7.

    Tulare County

    Visalia

    On Tuesday, the Visalia Fire Department announced the City of Visalia Transit Center at 425 E. Oak Avenue will open as a cooling center for the community’s use beginning Tuesday until July 7, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

    The center will provide ample seating, vending machines, and restrooms.

    Porterville

    In Porterville, there are four cooling center locations throughout the city for those feeling the effects of the weeklong heatwave. Those locations are:

    Porterville City Hall at 291 N. Main St., from Monday to Friday beginning at 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

    Porterville Transit Center at 61 W. Oak Ave., from Monday to Saturday starting at 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

    Porterville City Library at 20 W. Olive Ave., Suite B, from Monday to Thursday beginning 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. Friday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.

    Porterville Armory at 29 N. Plano St., Monday to Friday from 8 p.m. until 8 a.m.

    Merced County

    Merced

    The Merced Library Branch at 2100 O St., will serve as a cooling center from Monday and Thursday beginning 10 a.m. until 6 p.m., Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
