With Yolked Kitchen debut, restaurateurs’ duo of Clovis dining spots has three daily meals covered

Yolked Kitchen, a new restaurant from the owners of 13 Prime, had its soft opening for friends and family over the weekend, bringing a unique dining experience for those hungry for breakfast and lunch.

It is located in the Parkway Trails Shopping Center at Willow and Nees in Clovis, giving the owner two eateries just doors away from each other covering all three meals of the day.

The concept of a breakfast and lunch restaurant had been in development for several years, according to Yolked Kitchen Owner and Chief Financial Officer Falina Marihart.

Marihart, who also co-owns nearby 13 Prime Steakhouse, said that the thought of a breakfast and lunch restaurant came from 13 Prime’s Head Chef Tommy Chavez. Chavez had previously owned a restaurant in Visalia, also named Yolked, which he closed down after taking his position at 13 Prime.

Since then, Chavez and Marihart, along with her husband John, discussed the idea of a restaurant focusing solely on breakfast and lunch and drinks and cocktails that are associated with the meals.

“We’ve always wanted to do a restaurant that had the vibe of 13 Prime but for breakfast and lunch,” she said.

After the closure of Mr. Sushi 2 due to the pandemic, the opportunity arose for Marihart to pursue the opportunity. After a couple years of development, extensive remodeling, the creation of a new (and ever-developing) menu and reassigning staff from 13 Prime, as well as hiring new employees, Yolked Kitchen opened its doors over the weekend.

Marihart said that she doesn’t want the restaurant to be referred to as a “brunch” restaurant, explaining that “brunch” title limits menu options.

“When I think of brunch, I think of ‘oh, just Sunday,” she said. “We’re going to be here six days a week and you can get breakfast or lunch, but we’re not marketing ourselves as a brunch restaurant.”

Yolked Kitchen partnered with Clayton Coffee & Tea in Modesto who will supply the restaurant with their coffee products. They will also offer espresso and cocktail options, with Marihart emphasizing that the cocktails crafted for the restaurant will be “light” cocktails in contrast to some of the offerings at 13 Prime.

Marihart said Chef Chavez, who will continue to serve at 13 Prime Steakhouse in addition to Yolked Kitchen, will serve up everything from American dishes, to Spanish, Mexican and Asian cuisine, and, of course, traditional steak and eggs. Yolked, however, will offer steak filets with their steak and eggs.

Marihart and the team at Yolked Kitchen hope guests will be a part of “a manifestation of the team’s commitment to culinary exploration.”

“Yolked Kitchen is not just a restaurant; it’s a celebration of friendship, culinary artistry, and the joy of creating unforgettable dining experiences,” a press release from Yolked Kitchen reads.

Yolked Kitchen is located at 1305 N. Willow Ave in Clovis and is open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
