Driftless Water Defenders Go on the Offensive in Iowa
Now, Edgerton is organizing in Decorah again, but this time to preserve water quality in the Driftless area of the Midwest. On June 15, Edgerton helped greet the crowd of 100 people who attended the kickoff event for the Driftless Water Defenders, a new 501(c)3 nonprofit that plans to organize and educate citizens, and to litigate around water quality issues in Iowa’s Driftless area.

BENTON COUNTY, Iowa — A Cedar Rapids man was taken into custody after a lengthy standoff with officers over the weekend. Marc Leconte, 56, was arrested Saturday evening after displaying a handgun in front of Benton County deputies during a traffic stop. Authorities were called to Highway 30 near Atkins for the report of an erratic driver. They arrived there at around 8:30 p.m. and found Leconte driving a gray Kia Telluride. That's when officers tried to pull over Leconte.
Man who allegedly robbed Waterloo gas station arrested in Clinton County
WATERLOO, Iowa (KCRG) - Law enforcement said a man who stole money from a Waterloo gas station cash register was later found and arrested in Clinton County over the weekend. The Black Hawk County Sheriff’s Office said at around 9:23 p.m. on Saturday, a man, dressed in dark closing and a black mask, robbed the Elite Fuel Mart at the corner of Elk Run Road and Independence Avenue.
