CLYDE, Texas ( KTAB/KRBC ) – Clyde first responders battled a house fire on Thursday afternoon, saving animals in the process.

At about 12:30 p.m. on July 25, a call was made for a house fire in the 7900 block of County Road 250 in Clyde.

According to the lead paramedic on the scene, no one was home at the time, although animals were present in the house. After about 20 minutes of battling the flames, a firefighter successfully rescued a distressed dog. The dog was then taken to animal control and emergency medical services on the scene, which provided oxygen and cooling measures. The dog is expected to recover.

She added that the fire is considered a total loss, and the Red Cross is in contact with the family. The blaze was controlled in about 3-4 hours, and the cause is unknown.
