Netanyahu lied to US intelligence about WMD and hundreds of thousands of people died because of his lies in Iraq. He needs the war to continue to avoid being prosecuted. Who benefits from the hostage being murdered. The captors gain nothing because their leveraging just got blown to pieces. There are missing pieces from this puzzle, but I'll never trust Netanyahu to provide the missing pieces. What if the Israeli commandos killed the hostage by accident or to keep them quiet because they certainly learned some things while being captured. What if those things they learned were not favorable to Netanyahu. I can see him making more bad decisions.
