The IMF will provide Ukraine with a loan of 1.1 billion, Prime Minister Shmyhal announced.According to him, the IMF Executive Board approved the fifth revision of the EFF program, which will allow Ukraine to receive a new tranche in the near future.“We will use these funds to cover important budgetary expenses of a non-military nature,” the prime minister clarified.Snapshot of a Telegram messageEarlier, Shmyhal said that the IMF expected the war to end in the summer of 2024 , based on which the Cabinet of Ministers calculated the state budget."When we planned the 2024 budget together with the IMF, one of the partners' forecasts was that the war would continue until the summer of 2024. Accordingly, the budget planned military spending as it is now," Shmyhal said.According to him, the budget for 2025 is already being planned, also with the participation of the IMF.Let us recall that by the end of 2024, Ukraine will pay the IMF more on old debts than the new loan.Strana has obtained a schedule of payments on previously provided loans and contributions to the IMF, which shows that Ukraine must pay the Fund 542 million, or $732.6 million, in its SDR (special drawing rights) currency in September 2024, and 991.9 million SDR, or $1.3 billion, by the end of this year.
