ODESSA, Texas (KOSA) - CBS7 FIRST ALERT Forecast for Tuesday, July 23rd, 2024: Conditions will remain cooler today, but will warm up some over Monday’s temperatures. Highs across the region today will be in the 80s and 90s. Midland is looking to reach a high temperature of 87 while Odessa is looking to reach a high temperature of 88 degrees. Skies through the day will be mostly sunny. Slight rain chances hang on across the region, mainly for those along and south of I-10.
Assault in Macarenas parking lot under investigation in West Texas
MIDLAND, Texas — Midland Police are investigating a disturbance involving weapons that occurred Sunday evening in the parking lot of Macarena’s at 4411 W. Illinois Ave. Officers responded to the scene at 5:46 p.m. and found two males involved in a physical altercation, according to a press release from the Midland Police Department. “The victim reported being in the passenger seat of a vehicle when the suspect opened the door and began to assault him,” the release stated. The victim claimed self-defense, striking the suspect with a nearby knife.
Texas crash leaves one dead, another seriously injured
PECOS, Texas — A head-on collision on FM 1053 near mile marker 384 resulted in one death and one serious injury Saturday morning. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the crash involved a 2015 Ford F-150 and a 2024 GMC Sierra. Donnavin Brown, a 21-year-old from Odessa, Texas, was driving the Ford F-150 southbound when his vehicle veered into the northbound lane. Nicholas Calloway, a 25-year-old from Houston, Texas, was driving the GMC Sierra and attempted to avoid the collision by moving into the southbound lane. However, Brown's vehicle returned to the southbound lane, striking Calloway's vehicle head-on. Calloway was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Braden. Brown sustained serious injuries and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital.
