Mostly dry and very warm today. A lot of rain on the way for next week!
East Texas (KLTV/KTRE) - Good morning, East Texas! We have a beautiful Saturday on tap and with a lot of rain on the way next week, you might want to try to enjoy some sunshine while it is still here today. This morning we’ve got temperatures in the upper 60s and lower 70s with mostly clear skies and some patchy light fog possible. Expect temperatures to climb into the upper 80s/low 90s thanks to ample sunshine and mostly dry conditions this afternoon. An isolated shower or thunderstorm will be possible for areas south of I-20, but coverage looks very limited for today. Sunday does not look too soggy either as we will likely only see limited coverage of showers and a few thunderstorms throughout the day, still, it would be a good idea to have an indoor “Plan B” for tomorrow just to be safe. Rain chances will eventually increase Sunday night and into early Monday as a potent upper-level system brings widespread rains to East Texas for the first half of the upcoming work week. Severe weather is not likely, but some very heavy rains will be possible and some localized flash flooding could become a problem by Tuesday or early Wednesday. Scattered rain chances will likely continue on Thursday and Friday, although coverage should be slightly less widespread compared to what we could see for the first half of the week. Thanks to cloudy skies and scattered rain chances you can expected temperatures to trend well below average with highs for most only climbing into the mid to upper 80s each afternoon.
