King's College seeks $1.4 million grant to improve North Main Street
King’s College officials hope to secure a $1.4 million state grant to help fund a downtown streetscape project along North Main Street in Wilkes-Barre. Wilkes-Barre City Council had a special meeting Tuesday and voted 5-0 to approve a resolution authorizing Mayor George Brown’s administration to submit an application for a Multimodal Transportation Fund grant to the Commonwealth Financing Authority on behalf of the college.
Cooler than Average Temperatures Continue and More Rain is on the way!
East Texas (KLTV) - The cold front has definitely brought some cooler temperatures. Most of the heavy rain is over now with just a few isolated showers that will last into the evening. Tonight, expect partly to mostly cloudy skies, light winds and temperatures that fall into the lower 70s. Friday, the chance for rain will stay mainly down to the south in Deep East Texas during the afternoon, but temperatures will stay cooler than average despite more sunshine. Even less rain is expected on Saturday, with slight chances once again in far Deep East Texas. Temperatures on Saturday will climb back into the lower 90s and could reach the same on Sunday, but rain moves in late Sunday and cools things down again as the chances for rain continue into next week.
Friday's Weather: Isolated rain chances today with cooler than average temperatures
EAST TEXAS (KLTV/KTRE) - This morning we’re waking up to some muggy conditions with temperatures in the lower 70s. A few showers and thundershowers will be possible this morning so it wouldn’t hurt to give yourselves some extra time for the AM commute just to be safe. Isolated showers and storms will remain possible this afternoon and evening, but coverage will remain fairly limited and will likely favor areas south of I-20 today. Saturday will see a mix of sun and clouds along with another round of isolated rain chances for Deep East Texas, with most central and northern zones trending dry for the first half of the weekend. Rain chances will quickly increase by Sunday afternoon as another active weather pattern sets up across the southern U.S., meaning more widespread showers and storms can be expected Monday through Wednesday of next week as well as cooler than average temperatures.

Pennsylvania Man Sentenced for Child Pornography Offense
PHILADELPHIA, PA — Bradley Michael Coleman, 39, of Strausstown, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of supervised release for accessing child pornography. He was also ordered to pay $35,000 in restitution. The sentencing was announced by United States Attorney Jacqueline C. Romero and issued by United States District Court Judge Joseph F. Leeson, Jr., on Wednesday, July 17, 2024.
