Fresno police arrest third suspect in 2023 murder of Simon Martinez
FRESNO, California — The Fresno Police Department has arrested 19-year-old Angel Gonzalez for the 2023 murder of 25-year-old Simon Martinez. On July 16, 2023, Simon Martinez and his wife were leaving a party in the area of Thorne Avenue and Lorena Avenue when they were confronted by a man armed with a handgun. The man demanded property from the couple. During the confrontation, a vehicle approached, and someone from within the car shot Simon and his wife. Simon was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after arriving. His wife survived her injuries.
