    Speed led to deadly Coalport crash, state police report

    COALPORT, Pa. (WTAJ) — State police have provided new details surrounding a deadly crash in Coalport over the weekend.

    The single-vehicle crash, which happened along Route 53 in Coalport, Clearfield County, killed Cynthia Wissinger, 53, of Madera and injured two others.

    Troopers responded to the crash at 751 53 Boulevard, Beccaria Township around 8:45 a.m. Saturday morning. Wissinger was traveling south on Route 53 at approximately 60 mph.

    Troopers said she failed to negotiate a right curve and traveled into the north lane, exited the east side of the road and traveled approximately 120 ft. before hitting a street. The impact caused the vehicle to spin 90 degrees before stopping.

    The vehicle was partially on the east shoulder and partially on the embankment. Wissinger was heavily entrapped and pronounced dead at the scene. Two passengers were transported to UPMC Altoona for evaluation.

    Neither Wissinger nor her passengers were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. One of the passengers suffered a serious injury according to state police, while the other suffered a minor injury.

    The Glendale Fire Department, Irvona Fire Department, Bellwood EMS, Irvona EMS, Medara EMS, Coalport QRS Department and Bigler Boyz Towing all assisted state police on scene.

    State Police said they are still investigating the crash.
